The Fifth Weekend
The theme for the fifth
weekend, which was held on 27 - 29 October 2000, was: "Will you allow the Lord
to soften your heart, so that surrender and submission follow?"
As we prepared ourselves
for the fifth weekend, softening our own hearts, surrendering ourselves to God
and laying our ministries down at Jesus' feet, God gave us a prophetic word for
the sixth weekend: "Behold I will do a new
thing" (Isaiah 43:19). The challenge was to move from Letton to a bigger
venue in 2001.
On the Saturday morning
we had two presentations:
1. from the Women for the Kingdom team who
had been to India earlier in the year as part of the Together for God Team.
They shared their experiences of holding a Day
Conference for Women in Bangalore and also spoke about the work that was
going on in the orphanage in Bangalore,
which had benefited from love offerings taken at the Women for the Kingdom
weekends.
2. from Pat Botwright, who showed us a video of the opening
ceremony of new buildings at Covenant Homes in Kisumu,
Kenya. It was wonderful to see happy children singing and to know that they are
loved and cared for. It was also good to know that Women for the Kingdom has
been able to play a small part in supporting this vital ministry.
The seminars/workshops on
the Saturday afternoon were:
- Deeper into Worship
- Building Relationships in India
- Children!
- Women in Leadership
Our prayer focus for the
weekend had been from Acts 16;11-40. Lydia was a woman whose heart was
softened, who surrendered her life to God, came in submission to God and saw
the fruit of submission in her life.
From the first meeting on
the Friday night, through to the final session on the Sunday morning, the Holy
Spirit moved amongst us, healing emotional hurts, touching hurting hearts,
strengthening and refreshing us. Hearts were softened, and for many of the
women this weekend was a life-changing experience as they surrendered their
lives to God. Our prayer was that they would see the fruit of submission in
their lives as they continued to walk closely with him. |
