A Gift for Today...continued

Ministry Gifts - Prophecy a Prepared Gift

The prophet does not prepare his message in his study in the same way as a 'Shepherd-Teacher' but he is not unprepared. His spirit is constantly feeding upon/taking in the 'testimony of Christ'. Rev.19: 10 "For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."

  1. He sees the heart of God
  2. He sees the situation
  3. He, by the Holy Spirit, is enabled to bring the Word of the Lord into that situation.

It is not just spontaneous, and can take some time for a word to be spoken out, as it did with Elijah. (1 Kings 18)

SO - the ministry is spontaneous and prepared. It can be directional but not dictatorial, can be a guide but not controlling. A prophet submits his word; he does not enforce or work out the word.
