A Gift for Today...continuedMinistry Gifts - EvangelistEvangelism was the natural expression of the life of the church. Every believer should share his faith and seek to bring others to the Saviour. Evangelism was not primarily the work of specialists, but some were given to the church by Christ, endowed by the Holy Spirit and were so effective in this work that they are an inspiration to us all. The evangelist will be equipped with supernatural evidences. Miracles of healing are the credentials of an evangelist's call. Note in Luke 10:9 that the seventy were commissioned not only to preach but also to heal the sick. Philip is an example of this ministry ? in Acts 8:6 we see it bore divine affirmation. Yet he did not seek after the euphoria of mass evangelistic meetings, but was concerned for the souls of men. The evangelist will rejoice over the salvation of one sinner (Acts 8:26-39) as much as he will over the salvation of many (Acts 8:5-8). |
