WHAT IS BLASPHEMY? - The Biblical position.

The prohibition of Blasphemy is based on the 3rd of the Ten commandments given by God to Moses - "You must not take the Name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that takes His Name in vain". This law was upheld by Jesus when He gave the prayer to His disciples Our Father.. "Hallowed be Your Name". The Biblical view of Blasphemy regards it not as an insult against a (human) person or persons, race or religious group, but against Almighty God Himself.
