The Responsibilities of Prophecy ...continuedThe Pastoral Responsibility - A Freedom to make MistakesIt is not only important for leaders to build an environment where people can make mistakes but it is also important that whoever is leading the service is also allowed to make mistakes. We often hear of people in the congregation making comments
like: I believe that people who make these comments must and should be asked to lead a service so that they understand the pressures that are involved. If they are not able or choose not to lead a service, then they should be asked to keep their comments to themselves. The only way not to make a mistake is not to make anything. Every time someone attempts something for God, it is almost inevitable that they will make a mistake. There was one church where it was said; " a Prophet in the Old Testament who got it wrong was stoned to death. Well we don't stone people to death but they are never allowed to prophesy again These sorts of attitudes in a church leadership miss the point and the blessing(see Introduction Christian Prophecy). |
