Hi, it's nice of you to visit with me. Let me begin by saying this is not an academic's study, this is a simple guide to the subject. As a village Pastor, I have no university or academic background but only the reference books within my personal library to formulate the study (these are listed in the bibliography) and the sermons that I have heard. There is nothing original within the study, in fact it's all been said before. Nevertheless, after reading this simple guide I hope you will be better informed and that God will speak to you through it.
Now may the Lord of Glory bless you as much in the reading as he has me in the writing.
THE DISTINGUISHING MARKS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT? Part
1
So how do we recognise the distinguishing marks of the Spirit of God
and not be deceived by the latest fad or fashion brought by a worldly influence
or by false teaching. Let's be honest, none of us wants to be deceived do we?
But how can we be sure that something is of God? In part 1 we look at the
authentic marks of Christianity and the local church.
THE DISTINGUISHING MARKS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT? Part
2
In part 2 we look at the authentic marks of the Christian message and
of the works of God the Holy Spirit, who is the powerful person who brings that
supernatural dimension that marks Christianity out as different, holy. He is the
person, the spirit of truth that authenticates our Christian lifestyle and
experience.
THE DISTINGUISHING MARKS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT? Part
3
In part 3 we look at what are sometimes described as "negative
signs" that actually signify nothing, and then go back to our scripture (1
John 4), which is surely our only rule for faith and practice, to test the
spirits. We look at what are the sure and positive, distinguishing scriptural
evidences and marks of a work of the Spirit of God.
THE DISTINGUISHING MARKS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT? Part
4
In this final part of the study we seek to draw some conclusions and
also look at the fruit of the Spirit. We have sought to ask questions of
ourselves and one another, without compromising the integrity of our
conscientiously held differences as members of the one body of Christ.
