Nuditycontinued ....
THE ENCROACHMENT OF NUDITY
The 'swinging 60s' as those years were called, accelerated
the permissive society. Before that time Britain had a Lord Chamberlain whose
responsibility it was to censor theatre and cinema productions. As soon his
services were dispensed with - the very next night actually - a London theatre
staged a production called HAIR which portrayed scores of naked men and
women.
We've come a long way since then and nudity has become
almost commonplace in the media and the press. Another mass display of naked
flesh was was put on at a London exhibition (some exhibition!). This was
followed soon afterwards with a mass photo shoot of some 600 nudes at
Selfridges' Oxford Street Store.
Some actresses have complained at requests made for them to
disrobe in plays or films where nudity is not necessary. They fear that their
futures might be threatened if they started going down that road. Other
actresses of course have been glad to comply with the request, because it has
furthered their careers!
