All statistics on rates of child abuse and neglect are controversial.

All statistics on the incidence and prevalence of child abuse and neglect are disputed by some experts. Most abused and neglected children never come to the attention of the authorities. This is especially true of sexually abused children.

Strong emotions and moral commitments influence everyone's reasoning and judgement to some extent. Even experts who claim to be without bias are fooling themselves or trying to fool you.

But none of this should stop us from looking at what is a very difficult area. We hope that some of the information below helps you come to terms with the fact and prevalence of Child Abuse. Much of the information is taken from the web sites listed below:
